 Dear Community Members, Census-2010 is around the corner. As Atlas Turkish House, we would like to inform you about Census 2010. Census Forms will rrive in March in your mail boxes! Fill them out, mail them back! It's Easy, It's Important, It's Safe! The 2010 Census aims to count all U.S. residents-citizens and non-citizens alike. Why do we have a Census? The U.S. Constitution requires it. The Census determines representation in the U.S. Congress. Census numbers are also used to allocate federal and state funding and redraw legislative boundaries. The public and private sectors use the numbers for many different planning needs. When do we complete and return the census questionnaire? The questionnaires will arrive in your mail box in mid-March, 2010. After completing the form, you should mail it back to the Census Bureau by Census Day, April 1, 2010. Who should complete the Census form? The head of household should complete the form on behalf of every person living in the residence on April 1, 2010, including relatives and non-relatives. Earthquake in Turkey! Victims waiting for Help! Saturday, 13 March 2010 - New Orleans
 A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6 hit eastern Turkey on Monday, killing at least 51 people and knocking down houses in six villages. The government's crisis center said an additional 74 people were injured in the quake, which occurred at 4:32 a.m. in Elazig province, about 550 kilometers east of Ankara, while most people were still sleeping. Haiti Earthquake Relief Wednesday, 20 January 2010 - New Orleans
A massive, 7.0 magnitude earthquake
struck Haiti near the capital of Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, January
12th. The damage to buildings is extensive and the number of injured or
dead is estimated to be in the hundreds, even thousands.

Eid/Bayram Celebration Picnic Thursday, 03 December 2009 - New Orleans
The Turkish community in New Orleans, Louisiana, congregated at the Lafreniere park for Feast of the Sacrifice (Eid ul-Adha) celebrations hosted by Atlas Turkish House . The guests of Atlas Turkish house included but were not limited to natives of Turkey , Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 50 people in their best clothes gathered in the picnic for the holiday celebration. Our Atlas Turkish House Volunteers gave some gifts to all children . All the Turkish food offered included Barbeque and desserts such as baklava and different Turkish desserts . Atlas Turkish House contributed to festivities by making it more fun for the kids , the real joys of holiday. The kids cherished the gift toys wrapped by the organization committee.Turkish Friends set up some play ground onyl for kids . At the playground of the Lafrenier park a number of activities and events played out throughout the day. The elation of the kids and the gratitude of their parents were at their peak.
